The Diversified Occupations Program is a regional Special Education Program that serves students with specific academic, vocational and behavioral needs. Students who attend this program come from four area high schools, Vergennes Union High School, Mt. Abraham Union High School, Middlebury Union High School and Otter Valley Union High School. Students from outside of these four school districts may attend this program, with permission from the ACSU Director of Student Services and as long as transportation is provided by the sending school.
The morning program offers small academic classes in all the basic subject areas. The student-to-teacher ratio is very low and individual tutoring is available. The afternoon program concentrates on vocational training in school and in the community. Each student receives job placement as a graduation requirement. The goal for each student is to graduate with a job in place and to have the skills necessary for independent living.
