Important Public Forum – Future of D.O. to be discussed

Over the course of the last year, many special education services have become centralized.  As a result, we have been reviewing systems of services for students with special education needs.  During the 2014 – 2015 school year, the Addison County Special Education Collaborative Board has engaged in conversation regarding the collaborative agreement as well as the programs and services that fall under that agreement. In May, the Collaborative Board determined that, as of July 1, 2016, the Diversified Occupations Program will no longer fall under the collaborative partnership.  What this means is yet to be determined.
The process we are engaging in has three steps: 1) a survey to gather initial input, 2) a focus forum to help refine the information and further the discussion, and 3) a small workgroup to help organize ideas and develop a plan for a comprehensive system of services.
The survey was sent out in August and information was reviewed in preparation of the upcoming Focus Forums which will be held on Monday, October 19th and Tuesday, October 20th.  Please see the attached flyer for specific information.
***Please note, the agenda will be the same for each evening and therefore interested parties need only attend one forum.
